Designed To Help

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

The Designed To Help project was launched by UK designers iLovedust, earlier this year. The idea was to produce a book of graphic design, illustration and photography, to raise money to help charities deal with the tsunami crisis in Asia. iLovedust received an overwhelming response from designers and prospective partners who wanted to support the project, and when renowned design publisher Die Gestalten Verlag (dgv) joined iLovedust, 'A Book Designed To Help' became a reality. The book is a lavish hardcover of 304 pages, featuring around 1,000 artworks from over 240 contributors from around the world. The book is a “must have” for a design-oriented audience worldwide and all profits from the sale of will go to respected worldwide charity organization CARE, who will use the funds to help the poorest communities recover from the tsunami disaster. The book can be ordered now through online booksellers from around the world. Please buy a copy! A record of the donations made month by month to the charity CARE can be downloaded from the link at the top of the site. Go on! Take a look and be proud.

iLovedust and dgv again want to thank absolutely everyone who has supported the project, especially those who so generously submitted their work. We want to stress that we received many more submissions than we could have possibly fit into one publication and - because of the massive logistics involved in putting this project together in so short of a time - we unfortunately couldn't write to everyone who supported the project individually. All of us involved in making the book remain absolutely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity!

WHO'S SUPPORTING THE BOOK?

This project has received an overwhelming amount of support and we wish we could thank everyone personally for their efforts. Thanks to the many hundreds of people who offered work contributions, contacts, advice, enthusaism... this book is a tribute to all of you. All the proceeds from the book sales will be donated to the international charity CARE and we will post up details of the money rasied for the tsunami appeal.

iLovedust and DGV would also like to thank printer Engelhardt & Bauer, paper manufacturer Scheufelen and bookbinder Spinner who have provided their services at cost price. The book would not exist without them!

The scale of this project far exceeded expectations and the abundance of emails received in support of the book has been remarkable. We are very sorry not to have been able to reply personally to all emails, but please be assured that each one has been very gratefully received. This also applies to the artwork sent in: the book had to be restricted to a certain number of pages so we could not include everyone, but again, all efforts were much appreciated. Thank you.

We have received a number of extremely supportive mails thanking us for making this project a reality. Because we are currently putting so much of our energies into the editing and PR process it is impossible for us to thank each of you individually. Still, we want to at least write here that these mails have been very well received and much appreciated. With everyone's hard work and generosity this book should be a real success and raise lots of money for the tsunami disaster.
